So last time we spoke, my season had started while I was also working to stay on top of my grades. Not much has changed. Today I had a 2:00 game against Hyde at the Storm King tournament. It took us a little over an hour to get to Storm King. To get my mind in game mode I made sure I brought my headphones, so I could listen to that new Meek Mill on my to Storm King. I ran into my mom and dad when I got to the gym. This wasn’t surprising, since they try to make it to all of my games. They are my biggest supporters. This game went better than expected. We fought and it was a great team effort. I finished with 29 points and a few rebounds, steals and assists. We got back at around 5:30, so I went to the movies to watch Creed II for the second time

I had to go up to Storm King again, for a game against Springfield Commonwealth Academy. We started playing hard from the jump. They scouted our game yesterday. So, today, they threw multiple defenders at me which freed my teammates. I was able to get a lot of assists of this. Everytime another defender didn’t come to help, I was able to beat my man 1 on 1, the whole game. We got the W, and I finished with 23 points and 6 assists.

Today is wednesday, which is my easiest day of the week. I had a few classes today and the rest were free periods. I caught up on a lot of work, and finished some work for the rest of the week. After finishing my homework, I went to the gym during the last period of the day before practice. I got up some shots before practice because today we were going to watch some film from this past weekend. When we get together as a team and watch film, it’s a great opportunity to learn from our mistakes, and find areas in which we need improvement.

First home game of the year against Brunswick today. Coming off of a win last weekend, we knew that we could win this game. A lot of teams are sleeping on us this year, because we lost a few kids from last year’s team, but this is why we go so hard in practice everyday. From the jump, we put pressure on Brunswick, and maintained a comfortable lead the whole game. I finished with 30 points and 6 assists.

After school today, we left to go to the Mercer tournament at the Hill School. The Hill School is in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, so it took us about 3 and a half hours to get there. Just enough time to play Meek Mill new album over and over. This past week we had been focusing on adjusting our defense and preparing to play against some good competition at the Mercer tournament. Going into this tournament we knew that some of these teams were more talented than us, but that never fazed me. I don’t care how old, strong, or big the other team is, I always go on the court and play my game. I am competitive and will always try to win and be the best at anything I do.

This was our last day staying in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. We had a 10am game against Peddie before we headed back to NY. Although we were exhausted from all the traveling and playing, we pulled off this win. We were hungrier than Peddie, and personally, I really wanted this win because I hate long car rides home after a loss. We beat Peddie by two, in a close, intense game. I finished with 29 points and a few assists. I got to see my PSA teammate, Daniel and his Hill team went on to win the tournament. This tournament was a good experience. I got the chance to match up against other talented guards and make a name for myself.

Today was my last day of school. These past four weeks after Thanksgiving break, going into winter break have been busy. These might be the hardest weeks on the year, with all the games, practices and schoolwork to keep up with. I’m happy that they are over and now I have this much needed break from school ahead of me. Tonight a few of my PSA teammates were coming to my town to play in the Slam Dunk tournament at the Westchester County Center. Drissa playing for Luhi and AJ playing for Stepinac, both also class of 2021. They have been my boys since middle school, so I had to go support them.

Today was my second workout of the week with my guy, Kyheem from Clock Inn. I was able to get some good work in with him. Worked on some stuff that I will take into the new year. This was a productive year. I don’t change my mindset going into the new year, I strive to become better. I try to work harder than I did the previous year, and hopefully the work will show.

On that note, hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday. Catch you guys in 2019!
